Chesterfield TownshipChesterfield rates as one of Macomb County’s fastest growing communities. Officials estimate the population at more than 30,000, with the number of registered voters at 22,000. Residents enjoy easy access to water, parks and the I-94 freeway. Public Safety: The Police Department operates out of a temporary headquarters located at 46525 Continental Drive in an industrial park near 21 Mile Road and I-94. The fire station is located offof Jefferson Avenue near Sugarbush Road. Business: The Ford Trim Plant on 23 Mile Road is the largest employer in the township, with 23,000 workers. Neighboring Lionel produces model railroad trains cherished by collectors around the world. There are around 700 registered businesses in Chesterfield, and the number is growing. Shopping: New stores are rising at 23 Mile and Gratiot. Most recently, a Home Depot building center and a Texas Roadhouse restaurant have opened. Three more strip malls are proposed in the township. Miles east are Bayside Mall and a large plaza anchored by Kroger. Library: Voters have approved funding for Chesterfield Library.
